(Qingdao, China, July 4, 2024) DuPont (NYSE: DD) will attend the 16th Annual Powertrain Technology Conference (TMC 2024 ) in Qingdao, China from July 4 to 5. DuPont will exhibit its MOLYKOTE® specialty lubricants and Vespel® parts and profiles product series that address wear and friction issues at booth 58 of this exhibition, helping to improve safety and reliability in automotive applications.

The MOLYKOTE® and Vespel® product families are designed to address key challenges facing automotive and transportation customers, including reducing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH), improving vehicle efficiency, minimizing power losses due to friction, and enhancing safety and reliability.

At the TMC 2024 booth, the DuPont team will focus on displaying samples and applications of new energy electric drive (bridge) systems, transmission systems, transmissions/reducers, engine systems and other key components. The two key products are Vespel® high PV grade resin and MOLYKOTE® D-6818 anti-friction coating .

Vespel® High Pressure-Velocity (PV) Grade is a sintered polyimide material developed specifically to withstand the demanding friction conditions found inside modern electric vehicles. With the increasing use of compact e-Axle and advanced DHT (dedicated hybrid transmission) designs, planetary gearboxes are facing issues of high torque and insufficient lubrication. Vespel® High PV Grade resin solutions are resistant to high pressure and high speed, and can withstand high loads and speeds without wear, seizure or micro-motion, making them ideal materials for applications such as pinion thrust washers in planetary gearboxes.

MOLYKOTE® D-6818 Anti-friction Coating (AFC) is a highly wear-resistant anti-friction coating designed for high-load-required sliding bearings and wear-resistant gaskets. In plug-in hybrid new energy vehicles, with the improvement of emission standards and the increase in fuel efficiency requirements, the engine cylinder pressure is higher than before, which puts higher requirements on the wear resistance of friction parts such as engine pistons and bearings. MOLYKOTE® D-6818 anti-friction coating has excellent anti-wear properties, which enables it to withstand extremely high load pressures even under conditions of low oil viscosity, so it is suitable for engine bearings, differential gaskets and other types of sliding bearings.
